If a password can’t be saved

Safari can store the user names and passwords you enter on webpages, and fill them in automatically for you when you visit the webpages in the future. If Safari isn’t saving your password for a webpage, try these possible solutions.

Make sure AutoFill is turned on

  • Choose Action menu > Preferences and click AutoFill. (The Action menu is near the upper-right corner of the Safari window, and looks like a gear.)

  • Select “User names and passwords.”

Remove the “never saved” designation

If you clicked “Never for this Website” the last time you logged in to this webpage, remove the “never saved” designation.

    • Choose Action menu > Preferences and click AutoFill. (The Action menu is near the upper-right corner of the Safari window, and looks like a gear.)

    • Click the Edit button next to “User names and passwords.”

    • In the list of user names, find the website for which you want to save a password. The words “Passwords Never Saved” appear next to the website.

    • Select the website and click Remove.

    • Click Done.

Contact the website’s administrator

Some websites don’t allow passwords to be saved.
